I dreamed a dream

I have dreams; dreams of owning a café/bakery where the furniture is a battered country white and tea is served in delicate china cups and pretty teapots, making the experience a feast for the eyes and soul as well as the mouth. I’d bake brownies and cakes and sell good food. It would be the antithesis of the fast take away culture; somewhere for people to sit and savour hot tea, soothing surroundings and contemplation. There would of course be wireless internet; what better place to sit and surf for inspiration.

I have dreams; dreams of unleashing my creativity and writing something that shows my soul. I have dreams of reaching a state of balance in my emotions, with a body and mind strong from exercise and yoga. I have dreams of living happily ever after with the one I love. I have dreams of seeing more places in the world; the shores of Australia, the mountains of New Zealand, the ancient ruins and vibrant culture of South America, the stark beauty of the Galapagos, the winter sun in Nordic lands, the bustle and tranquility of India, the dunes o the Namibian desert, gorillas in the mountains of Uganda. I could keep going forever. Luckily I have my whole life to achieve these aims because they aren’t manageable in one trip, even one of a full year.

I have dreams; dreams that sometimes seem unreachable and yet tantalizingly close. Some may never be, others will change as I change over the years. But I don’t think I’ll stop dreaming; that will never change.

  1. Dreams are what keep us going, even when times are tough. Hold onto their beauty and always do what you can to make them come to fruition.
