I feel like I could put up a million photos here and it wouldn't cover the two weeks that I spent in Cape Town and its surrounding area. I won't be putting any up right away due to internet restrictions but hope to do so soon.
What can I say about it though? The sun shone for nearly the whole holiday without any of the humidity you get in Dar. We ate like kings, trying out ostrich, wildebeest, springbok and of couse the omnipresent steak. We also indulged in mussels and oysters. It was quite the treat for me as I have become a vegetarian out of necessity here (dubious quality of meat) and I enjoyed getting my teeth back into some quality flesh. We travelled around in a little maroon car, which had trouble on the hills, and saw the sights (Robben Island, Table Mountain, Cape of Good Hope, Garden Route, Stellenbosch, Plettenberg Bay) including penguins galore!
We visited vineyards and I can now say that I can tell a good white from a bad; something I wasn't confident about before. We stayed by the sea for a few days and I turned my hand to surfing. Sadly it seems my imagined career as a champion surfer is not to be. It's a very difficult sport for a non flexy person like me. We saw dolphins swimming in the waves near the shore. We stopped in a gorgeous little town on an inland route for some hot spring wallowing. I even got to shop in the largest mall on the African continent!
And so, I'm back in Dar and dealing with the heat, although it may have broken with the rain over the last few days. I'm trying to bring my appetite back down to normal levels, not holiday 3 course dinner level. Work has been stormy with technology problems galore but that seems to have been fixed over the last two weeks. I celebrated St Patrick's Day in never ending fashion last week and was unbelivably glad when the weekend finally rolled around.
And yet tomorrow is Friday again. How wonderful is that?

It sounds like a truly magical trip! I know what it's like to arrive home feeling overwhelmed after such an amazing experience and not knowing where to begin with sorting photos, blog posts, memories etc. Travel truly opens up a whole new world.
