Yesterday I ventured into my first ever Pilates class. I’ve tried yoga many times, occasionally connecting with a class well enough to stick it out for even a month or two but more often than not giving up after a few classes. I really wanted to be a zen, yoga loving, flexible type of person. I dreamed about sunset yoga on the cliff top in Tanzania. As it turns out, it’s just not my cup of green tea.
And so I turn to Pilates. Less contortion, still lots of pain and a small amount of perspiration was my general conclusion at the end of the class. My core muscles are a little flabby – side planks proving impossible to hold to the very end of the exercise. Despite the complaints of the lady beside me (not difficult enough!), I think I’ve found something I can try to commit to. And I am able to walk and bend today, which is a bonus I wasn’t expecting.
