I woke up this morning feeling pretty awake and ready to deal with the day. Typically there was still no news on a work permit so I decided to take an hour away from the computer, settled myself in a comfy armchair with "The Shackled Continent" by Robert Guest in my hands to have some reading time and suddenly woke an hour later with my head hanging back and the book dropped to my lap.
I suppose sometimes your body just takes the sleep it requires. It had been a bit of a sleep deprived week. Some of it was my own fault, in the sense of me staying up very late on Wednesday to watch The Wire(I was addicted but now it's over)and some of it was due to obligations - a drinks reception on Friday followed by getting up at 5.45 in order to go on a road trip. That was aborted after our back wheel exploded two hours down the road and it took us four hours to get back on the road due to other problems such as the spare wheel being stuck on the back of the car. No sense in risking the remaining wheels when the road was about to get bad and we had no spare.(Many thanks to the kind people of Tanzania for helping us so much) And so we returned home and while I napped and slept a lot over the remainder of the weekend it doesn't seem to have done the trick.
The body knows what it wants and it will take it whenever you give it the opportunity.
