It looks like I'll have the opportunity to stay here beside the sea and in the sunshine for longer than originally planned. The past weekend and the last two days have been a series of discussions about what our best options are and what we should do. Heavy stuff
The news about the holidays means that our travelling opportunities will be reduced. On the other hand you can still do quite a lot with 20 days even if they are restricted to 3 separate blocks. For James, it makes the most sense to stay in terms of his career prospects and job satisfaction.
For me, well I'm doing what I'd be doing at home anyway, albeit for (a lot)less money. I'll be happier being in my relationship up close and personal than doing another year of extreme long distance. And this could be a fantastic opportunity to try something different in terms of working. Life is less hectic here, I don't have to travel as much which I am loving (I didn't do glamourous travel sadly)and even if I am in the office for 7 I can be home by shortly after 5 and that gives so much evening to play with. I could probably do another year of that - after this one. And so (without yet having sought approval from work) I think I'm settling in for the long haul.
I was/am nervous but just yesterday Posititvely Present posted something very pertinent to my situation when talking about 7 secrets for a happier you. The number one was this:
1. Move beyond your comfort zone.
"We'll make plenty of mistakes if we venture beyond our comfort zone,
but that means we are calling on ourselves to grow and become more dynamic...
Life, and everything that happens in the context of life, is an experiment."
And here it goes. My extended African experience!
