A sense of style

My personal sense of style is somewhat confused at times. I have become a lover of skirts and dresses over the last few years though I find the weather in the northern hemisphere to be a bit cold for skirts. I have become a fan of thick black tights however which makes life easier. I can terribly lazy most of the time though and jeans and a t-shirt or jeans with a cozy cardigan or cashmere jumper suffices a lot of the time. It’s the same lazy principle on which I wear flat runners (ease of walking) or don’t blow-dry my hair (time saver and so much easier). This has translated to wearing sandals, a loose skirt and a tank top out here in the heat.

However, I’m in the middle of a bit of a Mad Men marathon at the moment and, oh, how elegant the women in that show are. Joan Holloway in her skintight red dresses, Betsy Draper in her flared frocks and groomed hair. It may be inspiring me just a little. I’m wearing my most 50s-esque dress today and I took the time do my make-up before leaving the house today. That’s a mini-miracle in itself as I don’t function very well at 6.30 in the morning. I still didn’t dry my hair though. Baby steps, baby steps.
