Island bound

We’re off again this weekend. This time it involves a short plane trip this evening and a bustling narrow-streeted town filled with people hawking their goods. We’ve been to Zanzibar quite recently but I’m still looking forward to exploring the streets of Stonetown. This weekend’s adventure should include more cultural pursuits (there must be some parts of the Stonetown museums that I haven’t fully examined yet), time spent with a lovely couple out here on holidays, yet more excellent food and a new-to-me hotel.

Our last hotel in Stonetown was a bit of a faded glory. I’d definitely say it was worth it to see the place and think what it must have been like in its heyday but I won’t be paying that amount again for what we got. There is also the small fact that I’m pretty sure they are the ones who perpetrated credit card fraud on me. Well, it was one of the staff but that makes me disinclined to stay there again. I have had to cancel my card, get a friend to pick up a new one for me at home and then somehow get it to another friend who is coming out here in two weeks who will transport it safely to my hands.

This time we are staying at one of the institutions of Stonetown and I hope it will prove worth it. We are even staying in twin room rather than a double as that is all they had left. I hope it proves worth it. Our habit of booking things at the last minute often leaves us with restricted choice, especially as it is still in high season.

Once again my trusty new camera will be accompanying me and I hope to focus on the details that I see around me this time, rather than the bigger shots of the place. I already have those. Oh, and I hope to replace my flower ring that I showed a picture of before. I ended up giving it to my sister as she had wanted one but couldn’t find the shop again.
