A 6 hour road trip! We played music, discussed politics, ate crisps, gave a lift to a teacher and nearly ran over a goat. We also bumped down a dirt track for 60km which took us 2 hours. I was a little sore after that.
Our little hut was situated on this cliff overlooking the shore. We fell asleep to the sound of waves both nights. As predicted dinner and lunches involved amazingly fresh fish and calamari, straight for this sea.
We motored over to the island on an old fashioned boat, brightly painted in blues and greens. Sadly they didn't raise the sail but I loved it all the same.
We spent three hours walking around some amazing ruins from the 15th - 19th centuries, like this mosque. There was quite the population on this little island in its heyday and I discovered it was mainly gold and silver it traded, not slaves. I'm a little stripy now as my sun cream wasn't up to the challenge of the mid-day African sun. I'll have to reapply more often.
We saw the new moon rise as the sun set. A beautiful sight to admire after a hard day's sightseeing in the sun.
